keskiyo writes "Many recent OTS graduates may know Jeanne Holm as the namesake of the Jeanne M. Holm Center for Officer Accessions and Citizen Development - the parent organization of Air Force OTS, ROTC, JROTC, and Civil Air Patrol. More importantly, she was the first woman to become an Air Force general, and the first woman to become a two-star general in any of the US military branches. She passed away on February 15, 2010."

Air Force News: Air Force: Test missile misses its Pacific target
Posted by airforceots-admin on Tuesday, February 02 @ 16:52:08 EST (52 reads)
Topic Latest News
sweetmusicj writes "VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The Air Force says a missile-intercept test failed when a long-range missile launched from California missed a target missile launched from a Pacific island because of radar problems.

A statement posted on the Vandenberg Air Force Base Web site says the target missile was launched from the Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands on Sunday at about 3:40 p.m. and the long-range interceptor missile was launched from California's central coast shortly after.

The statement says both missiles launched and flew without trouble but the system's sea-based X-band radar did not perform as expected and the interceptor missed its target.

The statement says officials from the Missile Defense Agency that conducted the test will conduct an extensive investigation to determine the cause of the failure.

OTS 60A - 50th Anniversary of the Initial Class
Posted by airforceots-admin on Sunday, June 28 @ 16:48:19 EDT (1199 reads)
Topic Latest News
Ned writes "The 50th anniversary of the convening of the initial OTS Class - 60A will occur this coming November. As a member of this class, I have been attempting to find fellow classmates. 48 others have been located, 15 have died and 25 are still "missing". Of that missing number, not a one of the twelve women (WAF in those days) has been located.

I would appreciate any help in locating members of this class. We are proud of our heritage and wish to reestablish those friendships of 60A!
